Instead of looking for work like every other American, for the next three months I will be traveling to Asko, Ethiopia (a suburb of the capital, Addis Adaba). I will be working with the Mercy Ministry Happy Children Home tutoring children and I will spend time working at a soup kitchen in the area.

COUNTDOWN
Well here I am, a week away from this crazy trip. I'm really excited to go and do something different, challenging and (hopefully) rewarding, but I get nervous thinking about what is ahead of me. I have never traveled to a different country alone and it's weird that I cannot even begin to understand or speak the language. I feel as prepared as I can be (I've gotten all my shots, my visa, etc.) but I also know that nothing can actually prepare me. I have no idea what I'm going to encounter and I often think that I am crazy to have graduated early and attempt something like this. Hopefully that feeling doesn't stay with me for too long...
